Sol SC Program Overview

Program Summary

Girls will experience fun and age appropriate soccer instruction, participate in team building activities, meet new friends, and actively participate in healthy competition. Our priority is to build our teams with talented girls.

Identifying Talented Players

Whether at a practice or during any number of our Free Sol Events (Futsal, Friday Skills Days, and/or our Free Spring Clinic) we're looking to identify girls and families who demonstrate the following criteria (we hold ourselves to the same criteria):

  1. Motivation to learn (enjoys playing soccer)
  2. Coachability (curious and open to instruction)
  3. Shows improvement (responds to training)
  4. Trustworthy (reliable on and off the field)

We believe that these criteria are the best way to gauge if a girl is ready for club soccer and a good fit for our teams and that we are a good fit for the girls. Although we feel confident in our ability to identify talented girls who demonstrate these criteria, it is an intuitive process and we can get it wrong. Once we have formed our teams, our job is to teach and encourage the girls to develop their talents rather than try and win with them immediately
.

Sol SC Team Formation

Sol SC currently forms one team in each age group Under 9 - Under 16 based on the birth year and will compete in the Coast Soccer League. Second teams in an age group will be considered when there is enough player interest and coaches are available. Click here to meet our Coaching staff.

The time when team formations happen can often be difficult and stressful for all involved. We recommend families gather as much relevant information as possible about their potential club and team choice during any tryout process so that commitments to the club/team of choice will be honored. After a family gathers all the information, carefully considers their choice, then proceeds to make a commitment to Sol, we may then have to inform others that they were not chosen; a difficult task to say the least. If a committed family then turns around and breaks their commitment not only will we have lost one player but we will have also lost others who would have willingly honored their commitment and filled that roster spot. Please consider your choices carefully because your decisions affect others as well as they do you. Once Sol Soccer Club commits to a player we will always honor our commitment. No player will lose a spot or playing time in order to fortify the team for competitions mid season.

Sol Soccer Club does not accept mid season transfers. The soccer season begins August 1 and continues through the following April or May, depending on the age group and/or success of the team through the USYS State, Regional, or National competition which can run into late summer. Three instances where this rule does not apply are:

  1. A player moves into the area and travel distance makes it unreasonable for them to play with their old team.
  2. A player's team chooses not to attend ECNL/State, Regional, or National competition.
  3. A player's team disbands during the season and/or is no longer a viable team

Once you have committed to a club/team and if you are considering leaving your current team to join one of the Sol teams we respectfully ask that you to follow through with your commitment to your current team and tryout for next season's Sol team. In addition, we respect a player's current team commitment and therefore we do not want players attending Sol training sessions if those sessions interfere with a player's current training sessions. You can always make arrangements for individual tryouts by contacting the Sol Soccer Club.

Uniform Ordering

The next step in the process is to purchase uniforms. We have a two-year uniform cycle, which helps a bit to control costs. Uniforms are purchased directly through Soccerloco.com. Teams will be assigned times for fittings, within a few weeks of placements results. Payment must be made upon ordering and at a cost of approximately $130-150.
